Tuesday, after a bit of back and forth about the contract, our bid was accepted on the house! And an inspection was set up for yesterday. Hubby took off work a little early & we met the inspector at the house so we could see everything he was seeing. He told us somethings we already knew like the top of the fireplace needs to be rebricked, and some things we did not know like the water heater has a leak & needs to be replaced. But ultimately he said it was a fixer upper & for the right price it was a good house :) We agreed!
Patrick's mommy, who is also buying a house & had just hers inspected that morning by the same guy, met us there to see the house, and my sister & mommy came when they got off work to see it.
Now the home has to be appraised, and the lending bank gets that appraisal to decide if they are willing to pay for this house. This is the part that makes us nervous. We have been told what is wrong with it & we are willing to fix it, but if the bank decides they don't want to lend money for this house then we are out of luck.
So please pray with us that the appraiser sees the potential in this house & is having a good day when he comes to see it :)
We are so close to being first time homeowners!!! Once everything is finalized I will share pics :)

Bid on a House!
Thursday evening when Hubby got off work we met with our realtor & put a bid on a house! We decided against the one "in pristine condition" for 2 reasons, 1) more was wrong with the ac than we originally thought & 2) the one with "a few issues" is a bigger house and once it's fixed up it will be worth more :)
So we placed the bid, and now we are waiting to hear back from the bank (because it is a foreclosure).
And I just have to brag here because I found this house & showed it to Patrick. He did not think we would like it & therefore did not want to go look at it. I told him it wouldn't hurt to look at it, so we told our realtor we would like to see it. And it's the one house out of 14 that we decided we liked enough to put a bid on! :) I'm a little bit proud of that ;)
I will keep you updated on the progress!

Goodbye Precious Baby
Today I went with The Crazy Lady Who Lives Downstairs to the Doctor. She was pregnant and bleeding, which she had just gone through a couple of months before. So we went to the doctor expecting the worst, but praying for the best. Sadly, she lost the baby. The news was heartbreaking.
You can read in her words the experiences, but I wanted to ask you to pray for this family. They are mourning the loss of 2 babies, and raising 2 babies. They want a big family (Yes they are crazy ;)~ And I can imagine that it has to be hard to look at two miscarriages and wonder if you can do this again.
Please pray for The Crazy People Who Live Downstairs, God sees the desires of their heart.

More Home Shopping
So yesterday when Hubby got off work, we met with our realtor to see 5 more houses. We LOVE 2 of the 5!!! This is very exciting for us! One of them is in pristine condition, which is unheard of in the price range we are looking in. The only thing we can see wrong with it is that someone stole the outside ac unit :( this is something we are more than willing to replace for this beautiful home :) and Hubby knows how to keep it from happening again ;) The other one that we love has a few issues, but none of them are deal breakers. We have sent our realtor a message telling him we would like to place a bid on both houses :) we would love for you to pray with us about this, that we place a bid on the right house & that it is accepted! We are excited & nervous :)

Home Shopping
Hubby & I have started the process of looking to buy our first home! :) This is a long process! We have so far looked at 9 houses, we have a list of 16 more we would like to see. Of the first 9 we have asked to get more info on 1.
This is also a very exciting process! We are going to buy our very own place!
We have found out through starting all this that we have really good credit! That was very exciting news!
We also discovered that almost every home in TX has foundation problems! Welcome to Texas :)
But the right home is out there for us, and we would love prayers for us to know it when we see it. I will keep you updated on our home buying experience :)

I Married A Barbarian
See!
And if that doesn't convince you, look at this catapult he built! The whole time he was out in the garage making it, I kept telling him that our neighbors must think we are crazy!
He made it for a life size version of Angry Birds which we played with the youth group. They loved it! :)
Then he also built this Tranquilizer Chair. It was a prop for a play for one of our friends who is a drama teacher.
This is how it looks being used. It was originally created in 1811 to keep the mentally unstable restrained. It's basically a torture device, and my Hubby built one!
Conner looked pretty cute in it though :)
So I buy Hubby tools for his birthday & Christmas, and he makes torture devices! At least they are for a good cause... right?! ;)

My Thai Family
When I open my fridge, I see eggrolls, and this makes me super happy! :) Sunday I got to make eggrolls with the Thai side of my family... don't I look Thai to you? ;)
Yes I know, I am whiter than a piece of paper.
Background story: in college my brother's girlfriend & I moved into the home of a wonderful couple from our church. They became a second set of parents to us & Jamie & I became sisters. Craig & Jamie eventually got married which made us really sisters :) Well, Jamie is half Thai (and you didn't think I had a point).
So Sunday Jamie, her sister Jen, their fully Thai mom Lamyai, and I got together to make eggrolls. I was super excited! Jamie and Jen have taught me how to make eggrolls in the past, but I was stoked to be learning from the master! I'm not even going to try to give you a tutorial on how to make eggrolls, because I am definitely not the master! I will, however, show you some pics :)
We had a great time! And we will have to make some more soon!

This is Jamie, Lamyai, me, and Jen. Please excuse my over-sized t-shirt, I am a messy cook & therefore, never cook in nice clothes :) And look at Jen's adorable tummy! She's gonna be a mommy soon & will have another set of hands to help with the egg rolls.
These noodles are called Bean Thread, they come dried & have to be soaked in water to soften them & then they are cut up & added to the eggroll mix.
Ground beef, shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, soy sauce, black pepper, and once the noodles are soft they will be added in.
Mother daughter moment :)
Eggroll wrappers come in pkgs of 25 & 50, so here I am pulling them apart & Jen is rolling one up.
Eggroll apprentice :)
After we got them all rolled then I fryed them, cuz I'm not afraid of popping grease ;)We had a great time! And we will have to make some more soon!
