Picture time

This weeks photo challenge theme is light. I have this basket of burnt out light bulbs that are awaiting a craft project :) So I thought it would be the perfect subject for my picture!

Bye Bye Tree

When we bought our home, we knew the only tree on the property had to go.

It was way to close to our foundation!
So we had A. Matt Tree Service out yesterday to take care of it.

The theme for this weeks Photo Challenge is Focus.
So before he got there to cut down the tree I took this pic. I love the focus of the bark while the rest of the tree is blurry. I'm pretty proud of this picture :)

We were gone most of the day, but I was able to get this shot shortly after they started. It went down without a fight.
Our home sans tree

Now it's just saw dust.
They did a great job! One more thing we can mark off our to do list :)

Unpacking

I finally got my orbs unpacked for the second time... I had unpacked them once before, but hadn't found the right place to display them. They went back in the box to make room for Christmas decorations :) So now they are out & displayed!
This weeks theme for the photo challenge is blue, so I took my pic focusing on the blue orb. I really like how it turned out :)
Then I used the Peacock filter from the Flickr app to really make the blue pop!
I also took a pic of all my orbs, so you can see how I displayed them. What do you think?!

Shepherd's Pie

I was not planning on blogging about this, I was just throwing together dinner. It ended up being so very good that I wanted to share it with you. However, since it was not planned, I did not take pics or use measurements :) I was just using what I had in the pantry & ended up with a delicious meal!
I want to learn to write legible recipes since I love to cook so much. So far my attempt at writing recipes have always sounded rambling to me. So please forgive me if this is not as easily understood as I intend.
I do highly reccommend this dish though, both Hubby & I were very satisfied :)

Shepherd's Pie
2 lb ground turkey
Garlic salt to taste
Garlic powder to taste
Celery salt to taste
Parsley to taste
Black pepper to taste
Crushed red pepper to taste
Onion flakes to taste
1 pkt onion soup mix
1 can cream of mushroom soup
2-3 lbs red potatoes
I stick butter
Salt to taste
1/4 cup milk
8 oz shredded sharp cheddar
1 bag frozen corn
1 bag frozen peas
1 bag frozen green beans

Preheat oven to 350. Boil water and slice up potatoes. Once water is boiling put potatoes in pot & cook until tender. Then drain potatoes and add a stick of butter, milk, and salt & pepper to taste. Blend potatoes until desired consistency. Mix in half the cheese & set to the side.
Brown ground turkey adding to taste garlic salt, garlic powder, celery salt, parsley, black pepper, crushed red pepper, and onion flakes. Once browned add onion soup mix & cream of mushroom soup & stir to combine.
Microwave corn, green beans, & peas & mix together. Combine meat mixture with veggie mixture. Pour meat & veggies in a baking dish & top with potatoes. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top & bake for 20 mins. Enjoy!

Please let me know what you think! Thank you for putting up with my learning to write recipes! :)

Stacked Up Photo

This weeks photo theme was Stacked Up & for the second week in a row I remembered after going to bed Saturday night... This is becoming a bad habit.
We haven't found a good place to store our board games since we bought the house, so for now most of them are stacked on top of the mini fridge. And yes I love Monopoly :)

Photo Challenge Time

I barely made it this week! Hubby & I had already gone to bed when I realized the picture I was planning on taking wasn't gonna shoot itself. So I jumped up & grabbed this shot on my phone so that I wouldn't miss a week :)
This weeks theme is trinkets & treasures. I chose this shot because we treasure our books in this house! Hubby hates that I put trinkets on our bookshelves, but this particular one is more like a treasure. I got it from my Ma's house after she passed, I think it is beautiful!
